Biography

 

Prof. Aiman Erbad is VP of Research and Innovation and Professor of Computer Engineering at Qatar University. He holds PhD from the University of British Columbia, and an MBA from the University of Warwick. His research spans edge intelligence, cloud computing, IoT, blockchain, and secure networks. He has published over 280 papers, received 14+ major research grants, and five international best paper awards. He is Co-Founder of Qamia, the first quantum computing company in the MENA region.

“Graduate Education in the Age of AI: Research and Innovation at the Crossroad”

With researcher and faculty AI adoption reaching record high, graduate education faces many challenges. This keynote examines the institutional lag, the systemic risks to students and organizations, and the overall research and teaching/learning life cycle automation journey. Ultimately, the session outlines a strategic institutional agenda, emphasizing transparent AI usage, safeguarded faculty-student mentorship, and the development of advanced evaluative competencies necessary for graduate scholars to architect—rather than merely consume—future technological innovations.
